4th Grade

With a wash out week one this match became a one day match against Cardiff playing at Empire Park Cardiff won the toss and chose to bat. Figures suggest this game was dominated by the ball as our boys kept the run rate very low and bowled Cardiff out for 89 in 36th over. Nic Leahy (3-1) fast becoming known as the finisher has produced another bowling spell of which if it was a computer game you could imagine a cheat code was entered. His figures were backed up by Rhys Fallavollita (3-23).

After starting the run chase very comfortably with Opener Pat Huolohan (31) and first drop Nic Leahy (20) a bit of panic set in and a huge clump of wickets began to tumble as our 4’s scraped over the line finishing 8 for 90 in the 33rd over. Honourable mention to Ryan Mitchison (8*) who entered the batting at 2 down and remained calm and brought the run chase home.

3rd Grade

Playing at Cardiff No. 2 Oval another one day match was to be played which saw Cardiff bat first after winning the toss.  Our bowlers took regular wickets braking partnerships consistently and kept Cardiff to a total of 128 of 38 overs with best figures going to Thomas McKendry (3-18), Mitchell Piller (3-20) & Ryan Osborne (2-15).

The run chase was a steady one with most batters able to get a start and with tight bowling from the Cardiff bowlers our boys took their time and got over the line finishing 5 for 133 in the 34th over. Highest contributors with the willow where Dan Andrews (35), Ryan Osborne (23*) & Adam Walker (23).

Come time to Defend Cardiff made sure our guys were out on the field for the full 50 overs, but fielding and tight bowling made sure they were below the required run rate and Cardiff’s last wicket fell on the last ball of the day finishing with a total of 10 for 125. Best figures for the day were Tim O'Neill (3-15), Mark Cameron (3-25) & Sam Gilmour (2-19).
