MDCC Round 3 Wrap 15/10/16 – 22/10/16

 

D6’s 15/10/16

 

This week saw our D6’s taking on Edgeworth Sport & Rec for their second game of the season. After winning the toss our D6 players got to bat first and were able to bat out their 35 overs finishing with a total 8 for 119.

 

Best with Bat: Shane Pankhurst (39*)  

 

Unfortunately our D6’s were unable to hold the Edgeworth side below our total as the total was passed in the 25th over with Edgeworth Sport & Rec ending 1 for 120.

 

Best with Ball: Ian Davies (1-7)

 

D6’s 22/10/16 

 

The result of the day was shared between our team and Town Hall Smutters as bad weather made sure no play could be started.

 

 

C3’s 15/10/16

 

Our C3 side got to start there season this week after having the Bye in their 1st round.  They came up against Beresfield Memorial and after a lost toss by our C3 skipper we were asked to bat.

Our side was able to bat out their 35 overs finishing with a respectable total being 7 for 152.

 

Best with Bat: Stephen Leathley (34), Joshua Knott (28*)

 

Our bowlers found the Beresfield top order hard work as our total was passed in 28 overs with Beresfield Memorial finishing 1 for 158.

 

Best with Ball: Jamie Bubb (1-46)

 

C3’s 22/10/16

 

This week’s match against Wyee was washed out due to bad weather.

 

 

A Grade 15/10/16

 

Round 2 saw our A grade side taking on The Journeymen. Losing the toss our skipper was asked to bowl. Our bowlers managed to bowl out their opponents for 111 in 27 overs.

 

Best with Ball:  Jayson Pratten (4-41), Cameron Haines (3-36) & Murray Grimster (2-18).

 

The total was chased down in the 32nd over with our A grade side finishing 7 for 114.

 

Best with Bat: Luke Penfold (46*).

 

A Grade 22/10/16

 

Round 3 against Redhead was a wash out due to bad weather.

 

 

The District Grades all played Stockton-Raymond Terrace in the first two-day matches this season.

 

 

4th Grade

Day 1:

This rounds match saw our 4s playing out at Sports Ground No.6 for the 2nd round in a row and after losing the toss our skipper was asked to bat first on this small oval. We lost an early wicket before two of our young batter steadied the ship with Pat Holding and Nick Hart coming together for a 67 run 2nd wicket partnership this was followed by an even more impressive 3rd wicket partnership of 173 runs between Nick & Ryan Forbes. Between both our century makers hit forty 4’s and ten 6’s making it a very hard day in the field for Stockton.

Our 4’s skipper was able to declare with the total on 3 for 354 with 5 overs left in the day.

 

Best with Bat: Ryan Forbes (153*), Nicholas Hart (126) & Patrick Holding (35).

 

We managed to get a wicket in the last over to have Stockton 1 for 12 going into the second week.

 

Best with Ball: Sam Marr (1-5).

 

Day 2:

Sadly after an impressive first week the players were washed out with no play finishing the game with a draw.

 

 

3rd Grade

Day 1:

2nd match at home for our 3s playing at Empire Park and 2nd toss win for our skipper allowed our 3s to ask the traveling side to bat first.

Our bowlers worked away and managed to bowl out Stockton for 168 in 59 overs

 

Best with Ball: Sam Holding (4-23) & Rohan Davis (2-17)

 

11 overs left in the day saw 2 quick wickets before we were able to anker down and see out the day finishing 2 for 32 going into the 2nd week.

 

Best with Bat:  Zac McGuigan (16*) & Rory Kalinis (14*). 

   

Day 2: 

No play due to rain saw the match end in a draw.
