MDCC Round 1 Wrap

Round one got underway today our first graders travelled over the bridge to Lynn Oval to compete in a game that doubled as the 1st round of the SCG Cup and round 1 in the NDCA.

Losing the toss the boys were put into bat after a few early wickets Geary & Darwen came together to steady the ship with a 124 run partnership both man ended with 51 & 85 respectively. Some big hitting at the end of the innings from Emerton (31), Gilmour (43) and Cameron (20) helped the innings come to a close at 10 for 255.

After the break the team went about defending their total of which the usual tight bowling was on show and fielding was respectable for our first game. Gilmour finished with 2 for 21, Cameron 2 for 18, O’Neill 2 for 23, Geary, Emerton and Moulton each ended with 1 wicket to their name.

In the field Darwen took 2 catches, Gilmour 1, Bartlett 1 and spending the day behind the stumps our captain also took a catch and constructed a run out.

Stockton finished their chase 10 for 134. Giving our boys their first win of the season 2 bonus points and will now move on to the next round for the SCG Cup.
