MDCC Round 10 & 11 Wrap 9/1/16 – 16/1/16

Due to the amount of rain fall over this fortnight all games for Merewether were called off, bar 1 game. It was our 1st grade mid week twilight T/20 match against Charlestown.

1st Grade 13/1/16

Round 11 gave our No.1 Lions a trip to No.1 Sports Ground for their first T/20 game of the season this Wednesday 13 Jan 2016. Coming up against Charlestown saw the side field first as the toss went the way of the Magpies.

Using the pink kookaburra ball for the first time and the out field suprisingly fast with the amount of rain we saw over the past weeks we saw many runs coming off the bat early on with Charlestown able to make regular partnerships they managed a competitive total being 8 for 170 off their 20 overs.

Our run chase got off to a shakey start losing 3 early wickets saw us on the back foot being 3 for 48 before Ben Egan was able to find the boundary 5 times and hold on to hope of a succsuful run chase however once we  lost our 4th wicket at 4 for 73 the pink ball started to work its magic and charlestown used it well to take regular wickets and saw the run rate get out of hand.

We went down swinging but in the end could only manage a total of 10 for 117, losing by 53runs.
