MDCC Round 10 Half-Way Wrap 13/12/14

 

D6’s

This week saw the bye come around again for our D6’s.

 

D5’s

D5’s had a match this week with Medowie Cricket Club & on what was a rainy weekend elected to bat first. Managing to bat out their 35 overs they were able to reach a competitive score finishing 9 for 146.   Michael Sharp (37) was the best of with the willow and was supported by Isasc Hillery(23), Robert Pollock (22) & Rhys Fallavollita (22), who all managed to make starts.

The Bowling got under way and not before long Medowie wickets began to fall with bowling figures from Rhys Fallavollita (3-16), Mitch Piller (2-11) & Isasc Hillery (2-15) the guys were able to bowl out their opponents for  87 in the 27th over.

 

B5’s

B5’s got underway this weekend playing Jewells Tavern Beavers and after losing the toss where put into bat in bowler friendly conditions but never the less our guys batted 34.4 overs giving them self a total to defend of 128.  Andrew Woods (27) & John Farmer (22) top scoring.

In a game looking like it could go either way our B5’s kept working away taking wickets and manage to bowl Jewells out for 107 in the 30th over with wickets being shared around by Drew Varnum (2-15),  Michael Hughes (2-16) & Peter Jenner (2-20).

 

A Grade

A grade boys played Cricketers Arms . Cricketers battered first scoring 136 with Darren Cousins (3-43) & Chad White (2-19) being the best of the bowlers.

As the old saying goes the smaller the total to chase the harder it is and this was too true with Merewether all out for 101. Chad White rounded of a solid day top scoring with 19.

 

4th Grade

3rd Grade

WET WEATHER: No play possible.

 

2nd Grade

With a good start to the day our 2s won the toss and bowled first where able to bowl Cardiff out for 139 ith wickets shared around. Bowling figures: Tommo Croft (2-11), Cameron Lawes (2-18), Trent Bush (2-22), Mitch Morgan (2-30).

But with 12 overs for us to bat the day out we lost 5 wickets for 24 runs in a shaky run chase. 

 

1st Grade

WET WEATHER: No play possible.

 

 Under 21 Round 3 Wrap 14/12/14

 

This Sunday saw a clash of 2 matches against Uni and the Under 21’s where playing at Townson Oval. Losing the toss and being put into Bat our 21’s lost 2 quick wickets before an incredible partnership of 147runs between Chad Mayo (86) & Zac McGuigan (82*). After this partnership the boys were able to finish in a strong position ending their 50 overs being 6 for 232.

Uni’s run chase never but the guys under much threat with consistent bowling throughout the innings Uni’s final total being All Out for 134. Ryan Mitchison (3-5), Mitch Morgan (2-16) & Mitchell Piller (2-20) lead the way with the ball.

 

SCG Country Cup Round 4 Wrap 14/12/14

 

Round 4 of the SCG Cup saw us come up against University and after a wet week just gone our Number 1 side won the toss and put Uni into bat of which our bowlers went to work on taking early break throughs. Sam Gilmour (4-17) & Mark Cameron (3-22) make quick work with the new ball and with Courtney Moulton (2-21) Uni where only able to set a total of 109.

A steady run chase saw Troy Goodwin (28) & Josh Geary (22) being the highest scorers and Josh Emerton (19*) & Ben Egan (7*) where the not out batters at the total was chased down with the loss of 5 wickets.

 

The lads now move into the next round where they will travel down to Wollongong for the quarter finals where they will play Wyong at Keira Oval on Sunday the 28 of December for a place in the semis which will be played the following day.
