A Grade (Managers Report) 13/2/16

After loosing the toss (Again!!!) Kotara chose to bat first on a very good deck.

With consistent bowling and incredibly 7 ! dropped catches yes I counted every one of them Kotara could only manage 9 for 112 of there 40 overs.

Best of the Bowlers was Darren Cousins (5-17).

Merewether started the chase with a solid opening stance of 57 and after that impressive start the boys found little difficulty in passing the runs 5 wickets down,

Batsman that got runs for Merewether were Craig Plain (36), Ben Wooley (33) and Brad Davies (23).

All round good effort but fielding may have to improve.

Day 2: 13/2/16

This round saw us take on University and will and will be a day remembered by the players for a long time. The day started with our 4th grade skipper winning the toss and having no hesitation to bat first. An opening partnership of 41runs proved to be the highlight of the batting as Uni's bowlers found some demons in the pitch with pace off the ball scoring proved to be hard work and we managed to limp to a total of 10 for 93 off 36.1 overs.

Best with Bat: Mitch Piller (37)

But as they say in cricket never judge a pitch till both teams have batted on it. Our opening bowlers hardly put a foot wrong and after 20 overs Uni were 2 for 40 at the drinks break through out the day 12 maidens were bowled and we saw two 3 wicket overs one from Nic Leahy's inswing and the other finishing the match in style Veral Vishnoi's ripping leg spin our 4th graders managed to defend their total bowling out Uni for 74 in 32.5 overs.

Day 2 started and it wasn't long before our bowlers were back in the wickets and a ripping one handed catch at point form Adam Walker really got the spirits up high and the luck stayed with our boys from then on.
