A Grade

The A grade boys had a easy win against Hamwicks-dockside with Hamwicks having to forfeit this week.

4th Grade

The day saw Toronto resume the chase our 4th grade set at 3 for 64. Our lads got a quick 5 wickets getting Toronto 8 down still below the target but the final 2 wickets for Toronto saw them reach a total of 200 before sending us back into bat Pick of the bowlers being Ian Gray (4 for 49), Ryan Mitchison (2 for 26) & Terry O’Brien (2 for 36).

Rhys Fallavollita (27*) & Scott Long (13*) batted well until lighting and bad weather stoped play leaving us 1 for 45 in our second innings.

3rd Grade

Starting the day at a gusty Awaba Oval 3rd grade needed another 212 runs with 7 wickets in hand and with one of the Jake unsure if he could get to the game on time the real chance of being 4 down before play had started but with luck on his side he made it with a good 3 to 4 minutes to spare luckly for us Jake Miller luck stayed with him throughout the day being the back bone of the innings he scored his first century for the Lions ending with 115. With each batter who came into bat with Miller a good partnership formed starting with Patrick Huolohan (24), Adam Walker (24) and Mitch Piller (55*) The target was chased down with 2 wickets in hand tremendous batting from the 4 guys listed above...saw us end 8 for 270

2nd Grade

Game Day 2 saw another 18 wickets fall in a game which seemed to have it all. Staring the Day Toronto where in their 2nd innings sitting on 2 for 17 and our lads went straight to work on taking wickets which were shared around by the bowlers with Trent Bush (3 for 15), Matthew Richards (2 for 0), Jono Dunn (2 for 22) & Sam Palmer (2 for 30), Toronto ended all out for 123.

Leaving a run chase of 119 for outright victory Jeremy Ford (39) & Sam Logan (29) gave our 2’s a great start and at 5 for 95 things where looking on track to see them over the line but with a freak change in the weather and umpires stopping play we lost momentum and our last wicket fell on 112. Just 7 runs short of victory.

End result Merewether losing outright, With First innings points.

1st Grade

Toronto Started the 2nd day with all wickets in hand needing another 295 runs for victory, but our bowlers set out to make life difficult. With constant pressure wickets fell regularly Steve Baker (2 for 225) & Sam Gilmour (2 for 36) provided the early break throughs but pick of the bowlers had to be spin duo Timmy O’Neill (3 for 46) & Courtney Moulton (3 for 56) ripping through the batters allowing a comfortable first innings win keeping Toronto to 180.
