Come time to bowl the lads when about the job taking early wickets and keeped taking them regularly being successful in keeping Valentine-Eleebana below their total bowled out for 99 off 23.1 overs. The outstanding bowling figures for the day went to Jaimi Bubb (4-10), Jordan Walker(4-22) & Nic Stanbridge (2-19).

D5’s

Playing Warners Bay this week saw our D5’s play away from home and on this occasion lose the toss which saw them field first. The guys did well bowling out their opposition for 117 in 29.2 overs. Jeeva Ramasamy (4-10) was the pick of the bowlers well supported by Michael Sharp (2-17) & Shane Pankhurst (2-28)

During the run chase a few early wickets fell but a couple of good innings from Jeeva Ramasamy (38) & Robert Pollock (29*) saw them get home ending 3 for 119.

B5’s

Our B5’s had a hard day out against Redhead as Redhead Batted first and tallied up a competitive total of 8 for 200.

The run chase did not get off to a great start as wickets fell in clumps on 2 or 3 and partnerships not easy to come by the guys ended up all out for 95. Christopher Dunn ended the day best results with bat (37) and ball (2-17).

A Grade

Merewether played Kotara and as the usual of late we lost the toss again and bowled first, Kotara batted there 40 overs for 156 runs with Luke Miller the best of the bowlers with 4/12 of 10 overs, next best was Darren Cousins with 3/35 of 10 overs .The run chase was steady all inning till we needed about 20 to win when the wheels fell of losing 5/15 and having a tie ,after winning of the last ball last week and a tie this round we will take the 2 points with a disappointed grin and move on to next week. best of the batsman were Darren Cousin (68),Ben Woolley (26) and Greggy Weller (24).......

Merewether 10/156   Tied  Kotara 9/156

4th Grade

Playing Wests this round saw our 4th grade play at home for the first time this season of which their captain won the toss and elected to bat. A 2nd wicket partnership of 140 from Mitch Piler (89) & Nick Leahy (68) and a very quick 7th wicket partnership of 53 from Rhys Fallavollita (53*) & Ian Gray (13*) saw the 4th graders post a very respectable score of 6 for 285.

Wests looked to bat out their innings and mad sure they kept our 4s out on the field but with only 1 or 2 partnerships and great pressure in the field many runs where saved and kept Wests well below the run rate as they ended all out for 114 off 36.1 overs. The man now to be known as the finisher Nick Leahy (4-0) had outstanding figures bowling only 13 balls and made short work of Wests tail. With other outstanding figures from: Rhys Fallavollita (3-11) & Matt Rush (2-28).

3rd Grade

Playing at Ford oval our 3rd graders chose to Bowl first and look for early wickets but the boys ran into a determined Wests team who didn’t throw their wickets away and ended up batting their 40 overs finishing 6 for 162. Our best bowlers on this day where: Patrick Fitzgerald (2 -31) & Ryan Osborne (2-45).

The run chase started off poorly with regular wickets falling which allowed Wests to put the pressure on our lads which in the end we could not get over the line being bowled out for 125 off 37.5 overs.

2nd Grade

This match could have been game of the round with 2nd grade playing the first game at Townson Oval for the season. Wests won the toss and chose to bat which looked to be the wrong decision as Wests where losing regular wickets but with a mid order revival Wests ended up with a respectable score of 10 for 189. Best Bowlers where: Mitchell Morgan (3-19), Matthew Richards (2-9) & Bradley Bannister (2-51).

This Game went right down to the wire with our boys really having to dig deep if they wanted to win as again regular wickets fell, but with a 7th wicket partnership of 67runs with Tommo Croft (41*) and Mitch Morgan (39) the run chase was back on track but the 9th wicket was to fall with scores level and not many balls to go the winning runs came off the last ball of the day ending an extremely close match Merewether ending 9 for 191. Joshua Webb (31) also helped with important runs.

1st Grade

This week saw 3 rep players out off or regular side which opened the door for Chad Mayo, Cameron Lawes and Sam Palmer to play for our mighty number 1 Lions.

Our lads where sent into the field as Wests elected to bat first. But our Bowlers where fired up and bowled very well controlling the game Wests only managed to set a total of 69 of 26.4 overs with Sam Palmer (3-16), Cameron Laws (2-8) & Harry Colbert (2-11) leading the way.

With an aggressaive mind set our batters only needed 11.3 overs to chase down the runs finishing 3 for 71 with Pat Darwen (32) doing a bulk of the damage.

A tremendous effort from all grades again this round as training is showing in our results keep up the great effort and I look forward to reading next rounds results.
