MDCC Round 8 Wrap 26/11/16 – 3/12/16

 

D6’s 26/11/16

Round 8 saw our D6’s taking on CBCB. After losing the toss we were asked to bat first  and again batting out all our over we managed a total of 4 for 224. This largely came from a 146 run 3rd wicket partnership between Ryan Stoodley and Shane Pankhurst.

 

Best with Bat: Ryan Stoodley (86) & Shane Pankhurst (76)  

 

CBCB made sure the game was going down to the very last ball but our bowlers stayed strong and got the win as CBCB ended 9 for 215 from their 35 overs.

D6’s 3/12/16 

Round 9 saw us up against Edgeworth Sport & Rec. After winning the toss our skipper sent in Edgeworth and after 35 overs was done Edgeworth were 5 for 180.

In our run chase we lost 2 early wickets before an 102 run 3rd wicket partnership between Jordan Walker & Shane Pankhurst helped get the run chase on track the guys managed to chase the total down in 28.2 overs.

C3’s 26/11/16

No match as C3 had the BYE. 

 

C3’s 3/12/16

Round 9 for C3’s had us against Beresfield Memorial and after losing the toss and having to bowl first our bowlers did a great job bowling out Beresfield in 25 overs for 99 runs

 

Best with Ball: Tom Henshaw (4-27) & Stephen Leathley (3-22).

 

However we ended up falling 11 runs short as we were bowled out for 88 in 28 overs. 

 

Best with Bat: Colin Hicks (19) & Joseph Barnett (19).

 

 

A Grade 26/11/16

Round 8 saw us taking on Tech College and winning the toss we elected to bat first. A 90 run opening partnership between Craig Plain & Cameron Haines got usoff on the right track and after our 40 overs ended we managed to be 9 for 233.

 

Best with Bat: Craig Plain (102), Mark McLachlan (30) & Cameron Haines (27)

 

We managed to bowl out Tech College in the 38th over keeping them to a score of 10 for 164.

 

Best with Ball:  Murray Grimster (3-53) & Lyle McGuigan (2-12) & Adam Britt (2-28).

 

A Grade 3/12/16

Round 9 placed us against The Journeymen. After winning the toss we had a hard fought task batting our 40 overs for 9 for 174. 

 

Best with Bat: Chad Penfold (50), Brad Davies (26) &  Adam Britt (26).

 

Our bowlers stuck out the task and bowled Journeymen out for 117 in 34.3 overs

 

Best with Ball:  Murray Grimster (4-23), Luke Penfold (2-9), Adam Britt (2-29) & Cameron Haines (2-37).

 

 

The District Grades all played Wallsend in a two-day match this round.

 

 

4th Grade

Day 1:

After winning the toss at Empire Park our skipper sent in Wallsend. Our bowlers made quick work of things finishing Wallsend’s innings in 37.2 overs for 83.

  

Best with Ball:  David Stanbridge (3-5) & Nathan Stoodley (2-8) & Patrick Fitzgerald (2-33)

 

32 overs left in the day the young guns did the damage and we were able to have 1st innings points in the bag with the score 4 for 189.

Best with Bat: Drew Sellers (80*) & Nicholas Stanbridge (61).

 

 

 

Day 2:

Day 2 saw some quick runs as Drew was able to get past his century a decleration was soon called with the total on 6 for 241.

  

Best with Bat: Drew Sellers (111*) & Nicholas Stanbridge (61).

 

I lead of 158 was what we had as we pushed for outright  and we got there bowling out Wallsend for 101 and gaining maximum points.

 

Best with Ball: Matthew Richards (4-14), Sam Marr (3-19) & Jake Miller (2-10).

 

 

3rd Grade

Day 1:

Wallsend Oval No.2 was were our 3rd graders got underway and winning the toss our skipper elected to bat first. It was looking dicey at 3 for 26 but it brought Ryan Forbes and Nick Hart together for a 3rd wicket partnership of 85 runs the 2 have been batting well and seem to have formed a good pair in the middle the 2 fell quite close together leaving the total on 5 for 119 before Phil Stanbridge took over the game in what was some master class batting in quick time Phil managed a smashing century before getting out going for more quick runs for the team. We managed to bat out the 70 overs finishing on 8 for 266.

 

Best with Bat: Phil Stanbridge (112), Ryan Forbes (61) & Nick Hart (33).

  

Day 2: 

Full of confidence our team took to the field and the bowling was on song from the start Wallsend were unable to score the runs needed but were able to last 33.4 overs before falling all out for 59 the captains shook hands and called it a day giving our lads a 207 run victory.

2nd Grade

Day 1:

Wallsend won the toss at Townson Oval and elected to bat. Our bowlers were able to keep the runs down and take regular wickets. We managed to bowl Wallsend out for 188 in 69 overs leaving 11 overs to bat for the day.

  

Best with Ball: Sam Holding (6-27) & Thomas McKendry (2-35)

 

Batting result on day 1: (N/A).

 

Day 2:

With everyone who batted getting starts for our 2s it was not to long before we passed Wallsend’s total and our skipper declaring with us on 4 for 239.

  

Best with Bat: Patrick Huolohan (64), Josh Emerton (48), Chad Mayo (41*), Sam Gilmour (38) & Scott Montgomery (37).

 

Still 40 overs in the day and 51 runs ahead we sent Wallsend back into bat butafter 16 overs wicket-less both captains decided to call the game over with Wallsend finishing 0 for 64.  

  

 

1st Grade

Day 1:

Our skipper won the toss out at Wallsend No.1 Oval and elected to bat. In an inning were everyone contributed our 1st graders created a fantastic innings declaring after 84 overs at 6 for 362.

 

Best with Bat: Pat Darwen (107), Josh Geary (53), Simon Moore (43), Troy Goodwin (33), Jono Dunn (33), Tim O’Neill (32*) & David Celep (25).

 

With 6 overs left in play we were able to take 1 wicket leaving Wallsend 1 for 14.

 

Best with Ball: Sam Palmer (1-9)

 

Day 2:

Our team started the day strong with a couple of early wickets before Wallsend’s middle order fought back the run rate never really threatened our teams total however it did take a total of 70.4 overs to get Wallsend all out. Leaving them 10 for 202 in 76.4overs. 

 

Best with Ball: Sam Palmer (6-28) & Dave Celep (2-30).

 

 

Under 21 Competition Pool B Round 1 - Sun 27 Nov 2016

Our under 21s travelled out to Alfred Harker Oval to play on Sunday. And after losing the toss had to field first.

Wests’s Batters mad sure it was a long day out in the field before it would come our chance to bat but our young side did well to keep Wests to a total of 10 for 235 off 49.5 overs.

 

Best with Ball: Nicholas Hart (4-20) & Thomas McKendry (3-52)

 

In a run chase that almost followed Wests innings skipper Chad Mayo lead the chase with Zac McGuigan. A few scores in the 20s the side managed to reach the target with 2 balls remaining 7 for 238 some late order runs from Thomas McKendry (23*) was another highlight.

Country Cricket NSW - McDonalds Country Cup Round 3 - Sun 27 Nov 2016

 

Round 3 saw Terrigal traveling up to Townson Oval and after the visiting skipper won the toss he elected to bat first. Our bowlers managed to bowl out the visitors for 195 in 47 overs.

 

Best with Ball: Dave Celep (3-37)

 

The run chase started well before some tight middle over bowling from Terrigal saw the run rate required go up and after this the pressure to pick up the pace contributed to wickets and we came up 24 runs short losing our last wicket in the 46 over ending on 171.
