Day 1: 20/2/16
Merewether vs Cardiff this round saw our 4th grade travel out to Cardiff No. 2 oval. And after looking at the pitch and talking with the side our skipper elected to bowl after winning the toss.
Early signs showed it was worth the risk as our 4th grade had Cardiff in trouble at 4 for 16 before a fight back occurred. After looking like it could be a quick time in the field Cardiff managed to keep us out there for 51.4 overs and finish all out for 126.
Best with Ball: Grant Smith (5-38) & Nick Leahy (3-20)
Having 18 overs to bat it was a hard position to be in have a go for first inning or try and save wickets for week 2. Our 4s lost 2 early wickets with only 1 run on the board which then saw the 2 batters at the crease try to shut up shop and last the remaining overs. A late wicket fell in the 2nd last over of the day and the side finished 3 for 34

Denis Broad OAM Cup Grand Final - 28/2/16
Grand Final day saw our Denis Broad side taking on Toronto Workers at the home of Newcastle cricket No.1 Sports Ground.
The game started after our Captain/Coach Brad Bannister won the toss and chose to bat first.
Our innings started much like our last T/20 with Scott Montgomery being our anchor and helping guide our team to a total as conditions and Toronto’s bowling attack made runs very hard to come by.
We managed to bat our 20 overs finishing 4 for 119.
Best with Bat: Scott Montgomery (56*), Mitch Morgan (26) & Brad Bannister (17*)
Toronto’s run chase was going along very smoothly before a miraculous peace of fielding from young Zachary McGuigan and some help from the cricket gods helped run out Toronto’s skipper on 49 when the ball jagged back from off course and could be one of the defining moments of the match.
After this our bowlers really turned up the heat on the Toronto side and wicket began to tumble as score board pressure did its job. The last wicket fell in the 19th over with Toronto Workers on 107 and this returning the Denis Broad OAM Cup back to Merewether.
Best with Ball: Thomas McKendry (3-14), Brad Bannister (2-15), Mitch Morgan (1-9), Dan Andrews (1-24) & Jake Miller (1-26).
Congratulations on a great T/20 tournament.
