D6’s

1st game of the season for our D6’s saw them taking on Dora Creek Workers Club. Losing the toss the guys had to take the field and bowl first and a great effort saw them restrict Dora Creek to 102 all out.

Best with Ball: Greg Sellers (5-3) & Ryan Stoodley (3-35)

Needing only 19.3 overs to chase the total down our D6’s started the season with a win finishing 6 for 105.

Best with Bat: Blake Armson (51*)

D4’s

Our D4’s had an extra week to wait as round 1 saw them up against the BYE.

A Grade (Managers Report)

The boys played Tech College in the first game of the season. With 6 players unavailable we did very well with all the new boys chipping in and making contributions to a big win.

Merewether won the toss and chose to bat and after a solid start we had a mini collapse to be 6/65 at drinks .After drinks we got on top of the bowlers with New signing Adam Britt top score of 47 and the Lions finished with 9/165.

Tech were never in the hunt in the run chase to be all out for 65 with another new signing Dylan Stuart getting 4/21 of 10 overs, Adam Britt also got 3 wickets cleaning the tail.

4th Grade

Traveling out to Corroba Oval for the first game of the season our 4th graders took on Stockton-Raymond Terrace.

Losing the toss our 4th graders had to bowl first to start their season. After a good start from the Stockton batters our bowlers managed to keep the total for the run chase down as Stockton finished 6 for 178 off their 40 overs.

Best with Ball: Adam Walker (3-25) & Ian Gray (2-38)

Our run chase got off to a solid start with a 48 run opening partnership but added score board pressure saw wickets come and run rate required go up and in the end the chase was too much with the side finishing 10 for 134.

Best with Bat: Austin Hymas (27) & Nick Leahy (20).

3rd Grade

First game played at Empire saw our 3rd graders also bowling first due to a loss of the toss, Although it wasn’t look before they found them self on top of the Stockton 3rd graders. Tight bowling kept the run rate down and with regular wickets Stockton where soon all out for 89.

Best with Ball: Tom McKendry (5-23) & Grant Smith (4-25)

The run chase did not go as smoothly as possibly thought but after a couple of wickets fell looking for quick runs and the middle to lower order settled and the result ended 6 for 91 after 31 overs giving our 3rd graders their first win of the season.

Best with Bat: Pat Fitzgerald (28*) & Rory Kalnins (18)

2nd Grade

Our 2s travelled over the bridge to Lynn Oval for their match winning the toss our skipper was confident of restricting the Stockton lads and elected to bowl first.

With almost every bowler chipping in with 1 wicket the lads where able to keep Stockton to a total of 9 for 171.

Best with ball: Trent Bush (2 for 48)

The run chase got off to a very shaky start with wickets falling at rapid pace the guys found themselves 7 for 85 and looking at a big loss but some great batting form the lower order saw the game go down to the very last ball and after a great fight back the guys fell just 2 runs short of a win to lose by 1 run.

Best with bat: Dan Andrews (43), Mitch Morgan (24) & Carl Bolte (24)

1st Grade

First home game for our top side saw the home coming of Michael Hogan but after winning the toss our skipper elected to bat and the crowds would have to wait before they saw the fast bowler in action.

The Stockton bowlers soon had our side in trouble as we fell to 5 for 53 but with Moorey still not out he showed his class to work with the lower order and fight to the very end. And with the 9th and 10th wicket partnerships both earning over 40 runs. It proved the games not over until the last ball is bowled.

Being lead to an impressive total of 9 for 237 after a horrid start the guys had a total to make a game of it.

Best with Bat: Simon Moore (144*) & Michael Hogan (28)

The match went down to the last over of the day where our bowlers managed to hold on to the win. Winning by only 14 runs.

Best with Ball: Michael Hogan (3-34), Timmy O'Neill (2-31) & Dan Morton (2-51)
