MDCC Round 3 Wrap 17/10/15 – 24/10/15
D6’s 17/10/15
Game 2 of the season for our D6’s saw them taking on Wallsend RSL Junior. Losing the toss for the 2nd week saw the guys take the field and bowl first again. Another great effort saw them restrict their opponents to 113 all out.
Best with Ball: Nicholas Stanbridge (3-8), Cadel Leeson (2-15) & Jaimi Bubb (2-20)
The lads where able to take their 2nd win for the season winning by 8 wickets finishing 2 for 119 off 20.4 overs
Best with Bat: Luke Stoodley (54*) & David Stanbridge (39).
D6’s 24/10/15
Game 3 saw the guys taking on Toronto Workers and after losing the toss had to bowl first the guys bowled well and managed to bowl out Toronto for a total of 137.
Best with Ball: Cadel Leeson (2-11) & Nicholas Stanbridge (2-18).
It took the guys 30 overs to successfully chace down the total ending 6 for 140 with contributions all round. This continuing a great start to the season for our father/son team.
Best with Bat: Cadel Leeson (35*), Blake Armson (28), Jordan Walker (23) & Lachlan Price (21).
D4’s 17/10/15
The Season got underway this weekend for or D4’s and they came up against Belly Boys CC.
Winning the toss the skipper elected to bat and proceeded to have a bit of a hard time out on the wicket. Bowled out for 42 runs in 20.5 overs.
Best with Bat: Grant Ratcliffe (18)
Belmont’s run chase took only 7.3 overs to get the runs needed to win finishing 2 for 43 insuring the game was finished well earlier then the guys planed.
Best with Ball: Daniel Crossley (2-7)
D4’s 24/10/15
Playing Lords of Grogtown in their 2nd game our D4’s won the toss and elected to bat first. Managing to bat out their 35 over the lads finished 7 for 127.
Best with Bat: Daniel Crossley (62*) & Shane Pankhurst (26)
After putting up a good fight with the ball the total became to small to defend with the Lords of Grogtown side chasing down the total in the 28th over finishing 7 for 131.
Best with ball: Jackson Rush (2-25) & Jeeva Ramasamy (2-27).
A Grade (Managers Report) 17/10/15
The boys played Journeyman in what can only be described as a night mare wicket with both teams not happy with the standard at all.
The Journeyman batted first and manage 70 runs with Dylan Stuart getting 5/16
In reply the boys managed to get the required runs 8 down with Ben Woolley top scoring with 16.
A Grade (Managers Report) 24/10/15
Merewether played Warners Bay in what turned out to be a lot closer than what the score suggests. Merewether got sent in on a damp wicket and scored a competitive 8/166 with Vibushna Lingaballa getting us out of early trouble with 59no and great support by Darren Cousins scoring 44.
Merewether bowlers got early wickets but as the deck dried up Warners bay started to fight back to be 5/110 then young Hamish Bartlett got the vital wicket to break a 50 run partnership, after Hamish got the wicket he then cleaned the tail including a hat trick to finish with 4/3 of 3.5 overs to bowl Warners Bay out for 126.
4th Grade
Day 1:
Our 4th Graders travelled out to Ford Oval to take on Wests this weekend and winning the toss our skipper selected to bat first.
Our openers were able to provide a solid opening stand of 108 runs before some later order big hitting saw the team bat out there allotted overs. Finishing 7 for 330.
Best with Bat: Mark Forster (86), Darren Linsley (71), Rhys Davies (56) & Adam Walker (35).
Day 2:
Washed Out finishing the game with a draw.
3rd Grade
Day 1:
Back to Back games at Empire saw our skipper win the toss and elect to bowl looking to repeat the display they showed last weekend.
A few early wickets before some resistance from the Wests batters saw our bowlers out in the field for 67.3 overs before they managed to bowl Wests out for 170.
Best with Ball: Tom McKendry (4-33), Patrick Fitzgerald (2-20), Jake Miller (2-25) & Ryan Mitchison (2-33)
Needing to bat out 2 overs our opening batters made sure all wickets remained intact finishing the day 0 for 1.
Day 2:
Washed Out finishing the game with a draw.
2nd Grade
Day 1:
Harker Oval hosted our 2nd graders this weekend and after winning the toss our skipper elected to bat.
A good start saw our boy get to a total of 5 for 149 before an absolutely outstanding partnership of 164 runs for the 6th wicket partnership between Dan Andrews and Steve Baker saw the side get to a total of 6 for 313 before a declaration was called from the skipper.
Best with bat: Dan Andrews (92), Steve Baker (80*), Jono Dunn (56) & Carl Bolte (45).
6 overs left in the day saw Wests openers had a hard task but the end of the day saw Wests finish 0 for 9.
Day 2:
Washed Out finishing the game with a draw.
1st Grade
Day 1:
Another home game for our top side saw the guys taking on Wests.
Our skipper lost the toss and where asked to bowl first. An outstanding bowling performance form an attack without 3 star bowlers (Cameron, Hogan and Gilmour) saw the guys still come together and bowl out Wests for 108 in 55.1 overs.
Best with Ball: Dan Morton (4-30), Sam Palmer (2-13) & Josh Geary (2-19)
An aggressive approach from our Batters saw that first innings points where obtained and in which saw a declaration from Simon with the score 3 for 116.
Best with Bat: Simon Moore (58*), Pat Darwen (36)
With 4 overs to bowl in the day the guys managed to pick up 1 more wicket in the day to leave Wests 1 for 3 in their 2nd innings.
Day 2:
With first innings points already in the bag our first graders where lucky enough not to have their 2nd day washed out and where able on the field to complete the game:
Starting 1 for 3 the Wests batters where able to get 102 more runs off 44.3 overs before being bowled out by our bowlers.
Best with Ball: Tim O'Neill (3-11) & Sam Palmer (3-26).
Needing 98 runs for outright victory our batters only needed 23 overs to achieve this the guys ended 5 for 101 after some big hitting.
Best with Bat: Pat Darwen (34 retired not out) & Trent Bush (27*)
Country Cricket NSW - McDonalds Country Cup Round 1 - Sun 18 Oct 2015
Traveling out to Ron Hill Oval to take on Toronto in the first round of the Country Cup saw our Team start the day with Willow in hand.
The guys where able to finish their innings 6/287 off their 50 overs. D.C leading the way with the bat notching 87 off 69 deliveries.
Best With Bat: David Celep (87), Josh Geary (47), Jono Dunn (46) & Ben Egan (31)
With a massive total to defend our bowlers made short work of Toronto dismissing the Kookaburra’s for 95 runs in 27.5 overs.
